• 9th February 1928 - Rinus Michels - One-club man as a player for Ajax, but it's as a coach where he truly excelled, becoming one of the world's greatest with Ajax, Barcelona and the Netherlands.

• 9th February 1931 - Josef Masopust - A legend of the great 1960s Dukla Prague team, his outstanding performances helped the Czech team to the 1962 World Cup final and he won the Ballon d'Or in the same year on the back of it.

• 9th February 1957 - Gordon Strachan - Terrific little Scottish midfielder who had a bit of everything in his game.
