The world's unluckiest footballers

Some of football's unluckiest players...

  • Uwe Seeler - The striker played in four tournaments and became the first player to play in 20 World Cup matches. Unfortunately for Seeler, he missed out on the 1954 tournament that West Germany won, but then played at 1958, 1952, 1966 and 1970. West Germany then went and won the 1974 World Cup tournament, so Seeler just missed out again.
  • Karl-Heinz Rummenigge - The great German striker played at the 1978, 1982 and 1986 World Cups, getting two runners-up medals. These three tournaments were sandwiched between the 1974 World Cup and 1990, both of which West Germany won!
