Mauro da Silva Gomes, commonly known as Mauro Silva, is a retired Brazilian footballer who had a distinguished career playing as a defensive midfielder. Born on January 12, 1968, in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, Silva began his footballing career with local side São Bernardo before moving on to Bragantino in 1988. It was here that his talents were first noticed, and he soon secured a move to one of Brazil's most prominent clubs, Corinthians.

Silva quickly established himself as a vital member of the Corinthians team and was instrumental in helping them win the Campeonato Brasileiro in 1990.
