- 1959 - Giacomo Ferri. Torino stalwart back in the 1980s with the legendary nickname "Big Jim". Older brother of Riccardo Ferri.
- 1964 - Luboš Kubík. Talented Czech midfielder who famously fled training camp in 1988 with Ivo Knoflícek and legged it to Derby County. He never played for the Rams but did get a move to Fiorentina.
- 1968 - Marco Gabbiadini. English striker best known for his time with Sunderland and Derby County.

- 1966 - Happy birthday to Union Berlin. Die Eisernen can trace their origins back to 1906 but were formed under the current name #OnThisDay in 1966.
- 1985 - A 16 year-old Italian defender made his professional debut, coming on as a second-half substitute for Milan. He'd go on to become the club's most capped player with 902 appearances. His name? Paolo Maldini.
- 2017 - Sutton Utd keeper Wayne Shaw eats a pie in the FA Cup tie vs Arsenal.
