- 1970 - Alen Bokšic. The Croatian striker was a Champions League winner with Marseille and a Serie A winner with Juventus and Lazio. Also had spells with Hajduk Split and Middlesbrough.
- 1947 - Giuseppe Savoldi. Cracking forward for Atalanta, Bologna amd Napoli - he could do a job in any attacking position. Serie A top-scorer in 1972-73. He was also the world's first one million pound footballer when he transferred from Bologna to Napoli in 1975.

- 1896 - Club Atlético Banfield were formed #OnThisDay in 1896 by British and Irish immigrants who'd settled in the village of Banfield on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. They have the great nickname "El Taladro" (the Drill).
