  • 11th October 1948 - Erol Yasin. Turkish international goalkeeper who had ten years with Galatasaray before moving to the United States to become teammates with the likes of PelĂ© and Franz Beckenbauer at New York Cosmos.
  • 11th October 1955 - Hans-Peter Briegel. The German defender was one of the great sight of the 80s - socks down, marauding up and down the left flank with 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hellas Verona.
  • 11th October 1963 - Ronny Rosenthal.



Football Events - 11th October

  • 9th October 1987 - Careca scored his first goal for Napoli in a 6-0 win against Pescara. He went on to score 96 goals for the Partenopei.
  • 9th October 1997 - World Cup Qualifier, Italy vs England, at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome. Glenn Hoddle's side manage to play out a 0:0 draw to top the group and qualify for the 1998 World Cup finals.
