- 11th October 1948 - Erol Yasin. Turkish international goalkeeper who had ten years with Galatasaray before moving to the United States to become teammates with the likes of Pelé and Franz Beckenbauer at New York Cosmos.
- 11th October 1955 - Hans-Peter Briegel. The German defender was one of the great sight of the 80s - socks down, marauding up and down the left flank with 1. FC Kaiserslautern and Hellas Verona.

- 9th October 1987 - Careca scored his first goal for Napoli in a 6-0 win against Pescara. He went on to score 96 goals for the Partenopei.
- 9th October 1997 - World Cup Qualifier, Italy vs England, at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome. Glenn Hoddle's side manage to play out a 0:0 draw to top the group and qualify for the 1998 World Cup finals.
