  • 13th October 1923 - Faas Wilkes. A skillful, creative forward, Dutch legend Wilkes was the fourth Dutch player to move abroad, transferring from Xerxes to Inter in 1949. He also played for Torino, Valencia, VVV, Levante and Fortuna'54.
  • 13th October 1931 - Raymond Kopa. The legendary French footballer was a brilliant attacking midfield-playmaker, a tremendous dribbler who had a fine goalscoring record. A Ballon d'Or winner in 1958, he won three European Cup titles with Real Madrid and four French league titles with Stade de Reims.
  • 13th October 1959 - Massimo Bonini. Underrated midfielder of the great Juventus side of the early 1980s. His ball-winning, energy and work-rate made him the ideal foil for Brady, Platini, Tardelli and Boniek. Born in San Marino, he couldn't play for them until UEFA officially recognised them in 1990.
  • 13th October 1977 - Antonio Di Natale. A Udinese legend - scoring 191 goals for them between 2004-16 and twice winning the Capocannoniere top-scorer award.

  • 13th October 1894 - The first Merseyside Derby took place at Goodison Park, Everton taking the honours by beating Liverpool 3:0.
