French Football League Winners

LIGUE 1 WINNERS 1933-2022

The French national football league was first held in the 1932-33 season, under the name Division Nationale, Olympique Lillois winning the inaugural title. The league was renamed to Division 1 in 1972 and stayed that way until 2002, when it was rebranded as Ligue 1.
Over the decades the Championnat de France has seen a great spread of different clubs dominating different eras: Nice and Stade de Reims in the 50s, Saint-Étienne in the 60s, Nantes in the 70s, Bordeaux in the 80s, Marseille in the 90s, Lyon in the 2000s and now Paris Saint-Germain in the 2010s (although if you want a proper spread of different clubs then check out the list of Coupe de France winners).
Given Paris Saint-Germain's financial power and clout, this status might not last much longer, but it's Saint-Étienne who still hold the joint record for the number of titles, with 10, alongside Paris Saint-Germain.
