The Belgian football league is one of the oldest in Europe, with the first championship being held way back in 1895. In 2016 it was rebranded as the Belgian First Division A, from its previous name, the Belgian Pro League.

In terms of Belgian league titles, Anderlecht are the standout club by some distance, winning more than twice as many titles as their closest rival Club Brugge.
