Hans Krankl is a retired Austrian footballer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of Austrian football. Born in Vienna in 1953, Krankl began his football career playing for Rapid Wien, one of the most successful clubs in Austrian football history.

Krankl quickly established himself as a talented player, known for his speed, skill, and goalscoring ability. In his first season with Rapid Wien, he helped the team win the Austrian league title and was the league's top scorer, scoring an impressive 41 goals in just 29 games.

Krankl's success with Rapid Wien earned him a call-up to the Austrian national team, where he quickly established himself as a key player. He played for the national team for 12 years, earning 69 caps and scoring 34 goals.

In 1978, Krankl made a move to Spain, signing with Barcelona. He was a key player for the team, helping them win the Copa del Rey in his first season with the club. In the 1978-79 season, Krankl was the top scorer in La Liga, scoring 29 goals in 34 games.

Despite Krankl's success with Barcelona, he would return to Austria in 1981, re-signing for Rapid Vienna. His phenomenal scoring-rate for the club would continue where he left off, scoring more than 100 goals in less than 150 games.
